Five for Friday

I can never think of 5 things for the 5 for Friday Link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching but I'm going to try really hard today :)

I have been working a lot this summer, with my teammate and our media coordinator, to build a guided reading room. We took sets of books from all the classroom and leveled them all. I am happy to say, we are finally almost finished. It was a L   O   N   G process but it will be so worth it when school starts back!

Do you like to bake? Do you LOVE lemon cupcakes? That same teammate hosted a game night, aka another excuse for me to use that new KitchenAid mixer:) I made these delicious lemon cupcakes with lemon icing!

I just joined the Periscope community. Follow me @FabulousFunInGrade1

I have also been working on my classroom a lot these past few weeks. I know, I should be enjoying my summer but I have a busy few weeks planned and wanted to get most of my room finished before I leave for a 2 week vacation :)

I fell in love with School Girl Style's post about the classroom makeover she did. I loved bright paper lanterns with the black and white chevron. I originally had planned to use turquoise, lime, and bright orange but at the last minute had a change of heart and went with the turquoise, lime, and hot pink. I needed to cater to my girls some how! Based on that color scheme I made new cards for my word wall over the past few days and I have to say I am in love with them! && there is a sneak peak of my no where near finished room!

Getting married in September last year did not give me a lot of time for a Honeymoon. Just recently the hubby and I decided to book a Royal Caribbean cruise, during Spring Break, as a second Honeymoon of sorts. If you have been on a cruise with Royal Caribbean and have any tips/tricks/advice I would love to hear it!

July Currently

I just can't seem to get in a blogging routine! I hope that once school starts back the creative juices will be flowing! I'm linking up with Farley for the July currently!

LISTENING: I love the silence in my house right now. Hubby is sleeping, the dogs are sleeping, and the TV is off. - Just as I started typing this, the neighbors started to mow so I guess it isn't so silent anymore :(

LOVING: I have been wanting a KitchenAid mixer for a very long time! On Monday, I finally broke down and purchased one from Macy's (they were having a sale) and I couldn't stop myself. As soon as it arrived I pulled it out of the box and set it on the counter!
Isn't it LOVELY!  It's their "tangerine" color. I LOVE orange just as much as I love this mixer!

THINKING: My last day of school was June 15, I think I have been at school at least 10 days since then. My teammate, myself, and the media specialist are working on building a guided reading room. Right before school ended everyone brought down all their guided reading books. We have spent hours labeling and bagging; now we are in the process of getting all the bags catalogued and placed in bins. As if I am not at school enough, I just can't stop thinking about my classroom setup this year. This is going to be my second year in first grade. I took the plunge and I'm switching from desk to tables. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE WONDERFUL!

WANTING: Last year, my hubby and I went to visit his parents at the beach for the entire week of July 4th. This year he has to work so I'm stuck at home. I need a long vacation of nothing but the pool and a float!

NEEDING: Yesterday we started a summer deep clean. I don't think I have ever thrown so much stuff away. We didn't quite finish and need to continue today, but the hubster is sleeping so I think I'll wait until he gets up so he can help :)

ALL STAR: Procrastination is my thing! It is a known fact that I work better under pressure. In middle school, I had to prove it to my mom. I started working on a paper about a week before it was due, brought home a C. The next time I waited until the night before it was due, brought home an A. After that, I have waited until the last minute ever sense :)

Five for Friday

I haven't done a Five for Friday before, but the first day of summer seemed like a good time to start.

Today was our first workday for the end of the year. It felt so weird sitting in my room with everything off the walls and all packed up. I can't believe how fast my first year teaching first grade went by. I can't wait to get started planning for next year!

Yesterday I had a random hair makeover! Well I guess it wasn't too random since it was originally scheduled for next Wednesday, but since my mom was already getting her's done last night I went ahead and got mine done too! I have to say I am in LOVE with the Dr. Pepper red with magenta peekaboo I'll be rocking for the summer! On the plus side all the other teachers at school today loved it too! *I can't get a good picture in the house and it's already dark out~ maybe another day soon*
I just recently received my Erin Condren Teacher Planner and loved it so much that I HAD to order the Life Planner too. Between Graduate School and a husband with a C-R-A-Z-Y schedule I need all the planning I can get my hands on! I can't wait for this jewel to get here!

This week we had our Jump Rope for Heart Kickball Game and Pie Throwing! This is always just a great event for students and staff. The top 15 students who raised money for JRFH play on a Kickball team against our school staff. Then the top 10 get to throw a pie in the face of our P.E. teacher and our principal.

'
Just recently I purchased a Cricut Explore Air and am so excited to get back to crafting! I made mother's day and birthday cards here recently!

June Currently

Here today for the June Currently!

Listening: I have been doing lots of preparing for encouraging my "buddy class" for our state testing the next two days.  The Big Bang Theory is on the tv, but I am not really listening to it tonight.

Loving: I am so ready for this year to be finished. I have so many ideas floating around in my head I want to start working on for next year!

Thinking: It is getting really close to my bedtime. My puppies are definitely letting me know it too. They keep walking to the bedroom and coming back to stare at me.

Wanting: This past weekend the hubby, my sister in law, and her fiancĂ© all went to the beach to celebrate the hubsters birthday. We stay with his dad and step mom and LOVE every minute we are there with them. None of us wanted to come home!

Needing: I desperately need to do some laundry. I did some before the beach but nothing that can be worn to school for the next 6.5 days!

Summer Lovin: I can't wait to spend lots of time with family! With our crazy schedules I fill like I never see those people who are the most important in my life! Of course, I also hope to get in a ton of pool time!

If you haven't linked up with Farley over at Oh Boy 3rd Grade! this is your perfect chance! Go see her to get all the info and rules, along with the blank currently!

Cricut Explore Air

Just recently I purchased the Circut Explore Air from Joanne's and I must admit that I am already in LOVE with it! This thing is awesome! It will cut, score, and write! Not to mention that it cuts tons of different materials! I have only used it a few times, but I have made 4 pretty awesome, if I do say so myself, mother's day cards!

This was the first card I made, well the first Mother's Day Card, the Cricut came with the paper to make a card as soon as it was hooked up! This came straight out of the Cricut Design Space, all I had to do was load in the paper and hit go! Easy as Pie!

This card was the next one. The background design was available in Design Space, but the purple was a design I already had online! As I said before, this Cricut will cut AND write, so I chose to have it write "Happy Mother's Day" instead of having to glue each letter down separately.

I made both of these cards tonight- both of these also came straight from the Design Space, but I also customized a quote for the inside!

I can't wait to do so much more with this awesome machine! I have already thought of about 100000 ways to use it in my classroom next year! If you do a lot of crafting, scrapbooking, or even just want to save money on cards for EVERY occasion, I HIGHLY recommend getting one :)

May Currently

I can't believe it has been a whole two months since I have posted. Things have been SO crazy!

Here's Farley's Link up :)

Today the Listening and Loving go together: I am spending the weekend with my parents! We are all sitting around the living room, on our laptops, watching Big Bang Theory.

Thinking: I should be writing lesson plans instead of blog hopping and day dreaming of summer, but ... there is always tomorrow !

Wanting: I am in love with these sandals from Ariat.
I absolutely LOVE my Ariat boots, and have heard that the sandals are just as wonderful!

Needing: This school year has been a whirl-wind of emotions and I need a mental break. As many of you know this is my first year teaching first grade, and my teammate is teaching a combo class. The last few months have been a blur and I feel like I am barely keeping my head above water.

Yes: I WILL be spending lots of time with my sis-in-law. I LOVE her and do not see her nearly enough! Hope: I hope that I get to take several mini vacations to the beach to visit my other in-laws. Dream: My teammate and I are attempting to build a guided reading room at our school.

March Currently

I'm linking up with Farley over at Oh' Boy 4th Grade for the March Currently!

Listening: I'm watching Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, while the hubby is watching some violent movie in the other room.

Loving: I LOVE my new Fitbit Charge! It's awesome seeing your steps and competing with friends! ~I spent today laying on the couch with what I think was a bug, so I'm way behind on my weekly steps challenge :( ~

Thinking: I should start getting sub plans and materials ready for being at a PD for 2 days. Jan Richardson is one of the speakers at the PD we will be attending in Raleigh, NC.

Wanting: I order a kit to get started with the Advocate 24 day challenge and I simply can't wait for it to arrive. Estimated shipping shows it coming on Thursday! I certainly hope so !!!

Needing: I will be the first to admit I am HORRIBLE of keeping up with laundry. Sometimes it looks like a department store exploded in my bedroom. I guess I should get better at it :) .. I also need to go grocery shopping, the hubby and I both want to kick a few pounds and need to start eating better.

Spring Break Plans: I have NONE. The hubs has to work and we have no kids, so it'll probably just be the puppies and I chilling at home as I browse Pinterest and TpT.
